Have you ever thought about making a game? It's all I've ever wanted to do. Sometimes I get sidetracked, and sometimes life gets in the way, but now I'm setting aside some real time to make games! But not one or two games, I'm going to make an enormous pile of them, 52 to be exact! The Playdeck Project, one game a week, over a year. Or at least, that's the plan!
I recently ended 2.5 years at Zynga, a company that I never quite expected to be at. Like most experiences, it had its ups and downs. This one had more ups than downs, and I came out of it with exactly the sort of experience I hoped to acquire! I'm now a little older, a little more experienced, and I've had a much closer look at how success actually works.
And now that I'm free, I'm ready to give my newfound knowledge a spin and make a few games! I'll be working at a fast pace, one game a week, but with some breaks here and there to reflect. I'll also be developing with a tool based focus, so you'll see me occasionally launching new tools too!
I'll be starting up in a week or two, I've still got a couple things I need to wrap up. I am long overdue for an update to Ferr2D, and I'm almost finished with that! Next is a shader presentation for the San Francisco Unity Users Group on June 13th. Totally come see it if you're around! And last, I wanted to get a pair of tools ready for use during the Playdeck Project. A game state management tool, and a progression system, both of which are likely to be quite important.
I'll be talking about this image, and creating visual styles in unity!
Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for more good stuff as I prep for launch! Here's hoping I can actually deliver a whole 52 games! :)
